Season end in St.Anton

Looking back to another great season, this time with less snow than the year before, we finished the season with a big party night after the race of "Der Weiße Rausch" and a delicious brunch for sure in Top 11 the next day. After my accident in Russia my whole body hurt and I really had no mood for skiing (and that really means something!)...so we chilled in the sun and went for a nice walk withthe labby Jean Paul. It really feels like spring time in town now...

Back from Russia!

Two weeks ago Jochen Reiser, Axel Hörmann, Photographer Jens Klatt and me went to the Elbrus region in Russia to experience Russian lifestyle and culture, to ride amazing high mountains within the Kaukasus and to bring home an interesting and great story...what a trip! Compared to what we have here Russia is a completely different world. We met friendly people, saw really crazy people in Moscow and although it became really warm had some great riding in Cheget and the Elbrus ski area. Our Russian Camerawoman Dasha took some great shots, so I guess we will manage to show a small movie beginning of next season.

Delayed Easter Fire @ Inn

After saving the wood for a week in the trunk, waiting for the rain to stop, we finally had a great fire nearby the Inn in Innsbruck. Starting with a few people more and more friends joined and sat around the fire with us. All of us had some winter-powder-stories to tell so it was great meeting back in Innsbruck and having some bbq sausages!

Easter Powder- St.Anton

Unbelievable but true...winter is back!!! Face shots and fluffy fresh powder in April!!! Today we were riding at Rendl in St.Anton and were the only people who went off pist. So run after run we had big faces of untracked powder in front of us. As soon as the sun came out it got warmer and for sure the snow a bit heavier...but still no peopla and great riding!!! What a day! ;-)

Chamonix powder skiing- STEEP & DEEP

Chamonix had a really great winter season this year. Especially during Easter we had perfect blue sky and sunshine and the next day it was dumping a meter of fresh pow again followed by a nother sunny day. Chamonix at Easter time is a crazy place. There are just too many people who wanna ride the good snow. You better be early to line up for the lifts or you have a good sense for planning your reservation. I had so many days of perfect riding together with Helli, Wolfgang and Eva. Read more about Easter riding in Chamonix at Mountain Spirit Guide's Blog.

Lausanne

On our way to Chamonix we had time for a day and a night in the pretty city Lausanne to visit Hellis brother. I really like the view from the lakeside towards the mountains. People tell that on a clear day you even are able to see the Mont Blanc from there. Unfortunately every time I have been there it was cloudy and rainy...but I guess it's a beatiful place with many possibilities in Summer.

Shooting with Immanuel Meier

Behind me are two great days of freeride and lifestyle shooting with German photographer Immanuel Meier. Unfortunately on the first day the bad weather came in pretty early and we had almost no contrasts anymore to shoot some good shots. Therefore we had time to check out some cool locations for the upcoming day. In the evening we found a pretty romantic spot to shoot some lifestyle pics. Immanuel set up his big flash units and we worked till the sun went down. Check out some of his pics in the gallery!

Riding Arlberg powder

The Arlberg region is definitely my home spot. I know so many great places to go with a great variety of options. Even after a week without fresh snow you can find places like the one on the pic. You just need to hike a bit and find yourself straight within the white paradise ;-)... catch ya' on the mountains!!!

Frontflip Training

We found this little kicker with a perfect soft landing to try some flips! Helli did really good on the front flips. However we are motivated to train on the waterramp this summer. So next winter it's time to do bigger front-, back- and sideflips!

Skitouring at the Arlberg, Mehlsack (2653m)

The last snowfall has been quite a while ago and most of the skiable faces at the Arlberg are tracked now. Skitouring at the Arlberg is always a great choice. The best about freeriding is to have the possibility to hike every mountain you like, and ski the face you have been looking at.

Home sweet home- Riding at Seegrube, Innsbruck

It is great to spend a bit of time here at home in Innsbruck. Spring feeling is still in town and the snow is pretty slushy and wet. Perfect conditions to cruise a bit in the soft bumps in the shoots of the Hafelekar in Innsbruck and to ride the Nordpark.

Playin' in Zuers am Arlberg

What a perfect day...a lot of fresh powder, sunshine, almost no people and a great mood full of energy. Helli and me went to explore some of our favourite spots in Zuers am Arlberg. I took many cliffs with a lot more speed than usual and landed them safe and nice into the soft snow...what a great feeling. I really felt superstrong and comfortable with my Watea skis. At the end of the day we have been skiing for more than five hours in a row and finished the day with a beer and a Leberkaese-semmel in St.Anton. Life can be just great!!!

Shooting in Hintertux with Jens Klatt and the gang

Blue sky and some pow, that just covered the rocks...definitely a day to meet in Hintertux for some fun riding. Jens took his camera with him and got some great shots of us riding some pow and jumping off cliffs. Especially the boys went big although the take offs and landings were rocky and tricky. We had a perfect day of' playin' in the snow and working for the camera.

FM4 Wintermärchen- Winterwonderland Falkert

Mari Lang from FM4-radio asked me to present the mountains in Austria where my roots are and where I grew up...that's definitely the Falkert ski area in Kärnten within. So I called Flo Köfer, local freeskier from the Falkert, who then organised a great day with us. That day it was dumping and dumping and we had amazing powder conditions...altough we couldn't ride much due to foggy weather and wind and although we couldn't enjoy the view from the mountains all over Kärnten, we had an absolutely great day! So check the full story here!!!

Bad luck at Engadin Snow

Straight after ISPO in Munich I headed to Engadin/Silvaplana to ride the Engadin Snow 2010. I managed to arrive just in time for taking the last cable car to the top to check out the face. The Corvatsch north face is definitely one of my most favourite competition faces. Exactly like a real Big Mountain face should be...challenging and with a big variety of options...

Lots of fresh snow in St.Anton!!!

Two days after Christmas Wolfgang, Eva, Helli and me went to St.Anton to search for the fresh snow the weather-forecast promised. And there it was- lots of cold, fresh, white powder and not a lot of people around. Plenty of space for playin' on the mountains around Schindler!!!

Back on Fischer Skis

I am very proud about the great news of riding Fischer skis again. For me Fischer is definitely the best ski brand to ski on. As an Austrian company Fischer prduces high end racing, freeride and all mountain skis. Especially with the new Watea 114 they managed to develop a ski that floats through powder.
